What the heck is Blackout mode? This is the battle royale mode that Call of Duty never really needed. You see one of the ways that they got away without having a story mode in this game was that they said they were spending that time to make Blackout mode a thing. While Call of Duty Warzone is one of the biggest games in the world these days, we have to say that Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the game that really started that.

However, changes like not being able to simply regenerate health and having to heal, more emphasis on working as a team and the expansion of the Specialist system where characters have specific abilities all made this a more “thinking” persons Call of Duty game, but not at the expense of the fun. Do not get me wrong, we still have that run and gun first-person shooter style gameplay. I think that we do have to give Treyarch a ton of credit for being brave enough to try and make some changes to the core formula with Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4. This truly is an epic zombie’s mode and the best thing about this is. Not only did these add story to the game, but the gameplay was also changed as there were modifiers here that would make things more random. At launch, we had three solid storylines to play through, one set on the Titanic which is my favorite, one set in the days of gladiators, and then one based on Mob of the Dead from Black Ops 2. This at the time was the most cinematic of all the zombie modes that had been in a Call of Duty game so far.

Ok, so while I am not happy with the way there is no traditional single-player campaign in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4, to be fair, they made up for it with Zombies mode. To be fair, it is better than nothing, but I have loved the Black Ops storyline so seeing it just be pretty much passed over for what is here is disappointing. Instead, we have once again the Specialists getting their own little backstory sections. So, What’s The Story?Īs I said and as is common knowledge at this point, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 does not have your standard single-player story to play through as we expect. Thankfully that was not the case, but this turned out to be a way better game than I thought it would. I am someone that has enjoyed the majority of cod campaigns and with this being part of a series that has a great story to be told, I was mad that it was being passed over and I have to be honest and say that I was worried this was the start of Activision doing away with the single-player campaign. I remember being mad when Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 revealed that there would not be a traditional single-player campaign.
